Public transport at New York JFK International Airport is an excellent option for getting to and from Manhattan, which is the most popular place in New York City for visitors. With such a large volume of traffic around at the busiest times of the day, choosing to travel by one of the modes listed below can make the journey much more relaxing.
Taxi
The ubiquitous Yellow Cab is an image closely associated with New York, and this is the ideal opportunity to ride in one. The city council have a flat rate for travelling to Manhattan from the airport, which will be displayed clearly at the taxi rank and also in the cab itself. The current figure is in the region of $45, but check the signs upon arrival for the very latest figure.
Bus
Use either the Green Line or Transit Line bus services to get into the city. The easiest way to get the bus is to jump on the AirTrain to either Howard Beach or Jamaica Station, from where the buses have a number of services running to downtown New York.
Train
As with those passengers using the bus service to New York City, the best option to get from JFK to the city is to take the AirTrain to one of the two stations near the airport – Howard Beach or Jamaica – and then take the train from there to Manhattan. The trains run very regularly and are a quick and easy way to get into the city.
